The heart of 30A and where it all started, Grayton Beach. Known for "Nice Dogs, Strange People" – the unofficial town motto says it all. Grayton Beach is the funky heart of 30A. The community is populated by a mix of dotcom millionaires, fishing charter captains, grammy-award winning artists and families who have been walking its unpaved streets for decades. Also know for some of the best culinary artists in the area. Grayton Beach is said to be best beach in USA and of only a few in the world
This is the best paddle boarding, surf launch to Gulf and rare coastal dune western lake access to gulf and overall a must see for serene walking trails, bird watching unbelievable views, best parking for cars, golf carts and great bike trails. The WaterColor community offers a bit of everything for the 30A visitor. Nestled in-between Seaside and Western Lake, WaterColor has elaborately planned parks, trails that lap the edges of 30A’s rare coastal dune lake and Gulf views that never fail to take your breath away.
For a small, beachfront community, Seaside offers a remarkable amount of things to do (if you decide to get up off your beach towel that is). There’s swimming, tennis, walking trails, biking, shopping, dining, live concerts, theatre productions, outdoor movies, and .. you get the idea.
As you make your way down the main drag, you are immediately drawn in by rows of towering palms and buildings dressed to the nines in dazzling white. Here’s where you might start to wonder; that perhaps there’s something to this ocean air. Notes of luxury, elegance, and ease.
Tucked between Camp Creek Lake, Alys Beach and Rosemary Beach is a colorful and thriving beach community called Seacrest. Close to everything, and yet somehow quite relaxed, Seacrest is an ideal place to reconnect with friends and family. Bikes and flip-flops are the transportation of choice here, except for the occasional golf cart loaded up with kids, coolers, umbrellas and sand buckets.
Seagrove Beach is like the classic beach town of your daydreams. A place for families to gather and relax, go on a bike ride, toast the sunset or try SUP for the first time ever. While the community has grown and changed over the years — homes have gotten larger, restaurants have opened and boutiques now dot the landscape — it has never lost its original character.
Said to be the highest point anywhere on the Gulf of Mexico (at a whopping elevation of 64 feet), “Blue Mountain Beach” is hardly a mountain… but at least they got the beach part right. As for the blue? Folks say it likely originated from the blue lupine flowers that still flourish between the homes here. At one time, they blanketed these Gulf-side hills. Now the area is known for it's private residences and funky local businesses sprinkled in for good measure.
With outdoor patios, plentiful green spaces, nature trails, and places to sit back, relax, and take in the views, we’d say, mission most definitely accomplished at Gulf Place. Here in its laid-back atmosphere, locals and vacationers alike can enjoy delicious, local cuisine, live music, original art, and shopping galore. Not to mention, tons of local events in the Amphitheater, including oyster festivals, BBQ festivals, and more!
With coastal dune lakes along the north side of Scenic 30A (including Stallworth Lake and Oyster Lake, which is shaped like an oyster shell, but was also reportedly once teeming with fresh oysters) and glimpses of the glittering Gulf of Mexico to the south, the mostly residential community of Dune Allen has been a favorite vacation destination for generations.
Inlet Beach is just about as authentic ‘Old Florida’ as you’ll find in South Walton, and perhaps anywhere. Quite quiet and bordered by 13-acres of protected dunes, this pristine beach neighborhood feels as if time somehow forgot it.
Rosemary Beach, which was recently named by CNN as one of America’s most romantic towns, will make you fall in love with every stunning sunset and alfresco candlelit dinner.
Destin, Miramar Beach, and Panama City Beach is about 20 minutes away and has tons of more restaurants, shopping, theme parks, fishing charters, and beaches not reachable by golf cart. If you're looking for a great day trip idea, consider Port Saint Joe's and Cape San Blas which is less than two hours away. All of these places are very nice and sure to create great memories.
